Maybe all we have to do to find the evil doers and the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq is to start tailing the mainstream press.
Yesterday, NPR's Robert Siegel also conducted this interview with Time magazine's Michael Ware.
The interview reveals that Ware has been going on adventures with the evil doers for the last five months. These outings included one last weekend during which he witnessed the evil doers launching s against a U.S. facility.
Siegel manages to get my attention by asking Ware about a device one of the evil doers described as a chemical weapon: “What did he say about it?”
Ware answers: What he showed me was either a mortar or a round for what is known as a recoilless rifle. What it is, is a Soviet device which was brought into Iraq during the regime.Siegel asks Ware why, if it is a chemical weapon, hasn’t it been used to attack American troops already? Ware responds:I cannot verify precisely what is contained in this bomb. What I can tell you is that it has an order. It affects the breathing, it certainly affected my breathing. And when you shake this device you can hear liquid sloshing inside.
These men believe that when they fire it, it will produce a gas that will induce bleeding from the nose and from the mouth and will suffocate a man as he bleeds internally.
Whether this is really chemical weapons or not, what this shows is that the insurgents are looking for them and they and they are more than prepared to use them against U.S. troops if they get their hands on them.
They have a number of problems. One of which is finding an appropriate launch device to fire this munition. However, having observed their ability to adapt, I believe that, given time, these men will find a means to launch this thing.Otherwise, as they told me, all they are waiting for is to identify the right American target and to await the right meteorological conditions to use it.
The transcription is mine.
Listening to Mr. Ware, I was impressed by his total lack of concern that he is dealing with what is alleged to be a very dangerous device, not to mention the thugs he is associating with. I am such an optimist that I'm sitting here thinking that maybe he brought this device to the attention of the military. Yeah Right! I can't even ask who side these reporters are on. Its all too clear.

Doesn't it make you mad that this journalist is befriending the terrorists and spouting their propaganda?
