Orbital Development has an opportunity for you to "acquire tremendous media attention" by crashing something into the moon. Being the successful bidder will permit you to:
You better hurry, Space.com reports via CNN that the bids start at $6 million on eBay.Pack a spacecraft with 22 pounds of stuff;
Have guests accompany you to watch the launch at Russia's Baikonur Cosmodrome;
Video transmissions from the spacecraft during the spacecraft's four day voyage to the moon.
One caveat, Orbital Development won't guarantee the condition of the cargo after the 4,000 mph impact. even though the cargo will travel in a special burst-resistant canister.
This opportunity is not for everyone. According to Space.com:
Gregory Nemitz, president of Orbital Development, said: "The MoonCrash Project would probably be attractive to some bored rich guy, who is tired of playing with his radio-controlled model airplanes and wants to move up to the next level."
