Bush 52%
Kerry 41%
Newsweek reports that President Bush got a big bounce from the Republican National Convention. The Newsweek poll finds President Bush has the same 11% lead found by Time - 52% to 41%:
The Newsweek poll has even worse news for Kerry finding Kerry numbers to be the lowest point this year.Respondents who were queried only on Friday, after Bush’s speech, gave the Republican a 16-point lead over Kerry
The 11-point lead represents a 13-point bounce for Bush since an Aug. 5 to Aug. 10 poll conducted by Newsweek’s pollster, Princeton Survey Research Associates, for the Pew Research Center. The president’s post-convention bounce was substantial vs. the two-point increase received by Kerry after last month’s Democratic National Convention and in line with the size of other post-convention bounces. .
Princeton Survey Research Associates conducted the Newsweek poll, interviewing 1,008 adults aged 18 and older Sept. 2 and Sept. 3 by telephone. The margin of error is plus or minus 4 percentage points.

Pete: Believe it or not, most of us over here don't give a rat's behind whether Bush is "looked at mockingly" in the UK or anywhere else for that matter. I have a great deal of respect for the UK (spent quite a bit of time there) and even the rest of Europe, but I don't let them tell me how to vote. Frankly, most of us see the pathological hatred of Bush as something that courageous future statesmen and historians are going to look at as the single most wide spread case of group manic-hysteria since the Reagan years... And we all know that Reagan only brought on global thermonuclear war with the USSR and threw the entire planet into nuclear winter - just as Europe and the far left predicted. Right? Besides, you said that you laughed at Reagan and he got four more years, and now it looks like Bush will too - maybe you should stop laughing.

'Crusader President'? 'half-wit?'
Pete must not forget that if not for men like President Bush, he would be writing to this post in German. And if not for men like President Bush, his grandchildren would one day be commenting on blogs in Arabic in the not too far future.
'becoming polarised'?
Way before the 2 Bushes, the world was already very much polarised. We need strong people like Bush so that people who seek to terrorise others into submission do not profit from their nefarious designs. Dear Pete, being politically correct is not going to earn you brownee points from the likes of al-Qaeda.

Pete:
Brilliant! "...can you image the views in the rest of the World." Why yes, Pete, I can "image." So, according to you, we should elect the fellow found most palatable by foreign governments! What a great idea, but I will have to get back to you on that one.
"We laughed at Reagan,".... So let me get this straight. President Reagan stood up to the Communist block, and it fell, and you just hated him, right? Because he was sincere and honest, no doubt. We simply can't have that, can we? Not nuanced enough. Or was it because you, along with all your socialist friends, just hated to see the evil empire go away like it did?
Peter, you are unbelieveably vacant, aren't you? I congratulate you on remembering to breathe, sport. Just don't suck up my oxygen, m'kay?

Please tell me this isn't true. Has George W. really taken such a substantial lead? The guy is looked at mockingly in the UK, and remember we are one of the US's strongest supporters.
I sure hope this is just a blip. To be honest, 90% of Brits are repulsed by this man and his twisted crusader morals. If this is the view in Briton, can you image the views in the rest of the World.
We laughed at Reagan, and he got in a second time. Surely not Bush too.
Believe me, we all wept at 9/11 and no decent person wishes for it to happen again. Please do not let this happen again. You may think that the US is defeating the war on terrorism, but you are merely becoming polarised in the eyes of the World. There are millions of extremists waiting to carry out their evil deeds.
Please do not allow the crusader President to increase this hatred by the day.
It isn't just his misguided views on Iraq. It's Kyoto, it's oil billions and it's scary!!!!!!
Please don't post anti-UK stuff. After all, I too am pro-US and pro-humanity. I just fear for the future of the planet when a half-wit is the most powerful person. It will come back and haunt us all.
