The Giants had a 3-0 lead after eight innings, only three outs away, when four pitchers, three Walks, an error, and a grand slam won the National League West Title for the Dodgers.
The San Francisco Chronicle said it best:
The Giants had the Dodgers by the throat and let them go. No, the Giants did more than that. They administered CPR to their lifeless foe. They gave the game away, as tired closer Dustin Hermanson walked three batters, defensive replacement Cody Ransom made a devastating error and, with the game tied 3-3, Wayne Franklin threw an 0-1 fastball that Finley blasted for the division-winning grand slam.
Now it's the Giants that need life support. The Giants must beat the Dodgers today, and pray the Colorado Rockies somehow can beat Roger Clemens in Houston to force a one-game playoff for the wild card between the Giants and Astros in San Francisco on Monday.

HEY! Give my boys in blue some credit. If the Giants had played at the Major League level in April there would have bee no race In OCT. You may have forgottren the sand lot play of April.
