NRA Targets Kerry

The Los Angeles Times reports that the National Rifle Association is launching television commercials and newspaper ads criticizing Kerry as an opponent of gun-owner rights. According to the Times, the NRA depicts Kerry as a politician who has long favored gun control over the rights of gun owners:

The latest ad shows an NRA lobbyist, Chris W. Cox, walking through a field with a shotgun slung over his shoulder.

[. . .]

"Remember, John Kerry's not a hunter," Cox says in the ad. "He just plays one on TV."

The Associated Press reports that the National Rifle Association also uses a sweater-wearing poodle with a pink bow mocking Kerry's attempts to portray himself as friendly to gun sports and saying:

"That dog don't hunt."

"John Kerry says he supports sportsmen's rights. But his record says something else," the ads say.

The "That Dog Don't Hunt" newspaper ad can be seen here.

This can't do Kerry any good.

kerry is a liberal commie, i am a democrat from wva and i would never vote for that billionare taxachuttes liberal.

The NRA stated: "Kerry has voted to hold the highly regulated firearms industry legally responsible for the illegal acts of violent criminals."

I saw this and could not believe the twist that the NRA put on this one!

I think they got this a little backwards. As it is now firearms manufactures can already be held liable if they are sued and found gilty. A "Yes" vote on this bill would have prevented manufactures, distributors, dealers, trade groups and importers from being sued.

A YES vote would have also made background checks at most gun shows mandatory, which many gun owners are against. (This would not include sales from homes or hunting clubs.)

A YES vote would have reauthorized the assault weapons band for 10 years, which many gun owners are against.

Kerry voted NO, and the bill did not pass. If it had passed, it would have taken away gun owners rights. Nothing changed, and Kerry supported gun owners rights by voting "No".

So what is the NRA's problem? I don't believe a word they say. If you ask me Kerry and Bush are about equal when it comes to gun control.

Wake Up America!! Read and do research.

This is Senate Bill S.1805, which can be found here:http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d108:SN01805:

They also stufed in some amendment about unemployment compansasion and a few other things that did't belong in the bill.

That is great. Leave it to the NRA to come up with something good.
