Reuters reports that Senate Democratic leader Tom Daschle lost his effort to be re-elected in South Dakota. Daschle is the first Senate leader in half a century to be voted out of office
Daschle has represented South Dakota since 1978, first in the House of Representatives and then in the Senate.
