USA Today has an article on the Bush campaign's take on where President Bush stands in Florida and Ohio:
His advisers say they believe he is gaining in Florida, although a USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup Poll found him slipping slightly. They acknowledge that his support in Ohio dipped last week but believe he can still win there."The momentum has been growing as the undecideds have been coming our way," said Karl Rove, Bush's top political adviser.
"We look good in the key battleground states, and we've got a strong ground game that's going to keep us competitive in states that went for Al Gore in 2000," Rove said. Bush strategists say they have a good chance of picking up New Mexico and Iowa.
I think President Bush will win both Florida and Ohio. I discount yesterday's Gallup Poll finding Kerry leading in Florida 49-46 and Ohio 50-46. Those results are just too different than most other polls. Real Clear Politics average shows Bush leading in Florida by 2.2 points and Kerry leading in Ohio by 0.4 points. The final Mason-Dixon Battleground Polls released over the weekend found President Bush leading in Florida 49-45 and in Ohio 48-46. Zogby's Battleground States Daily Tracking polling released yesterday found Kerry ahead in Florida 48-47 and President Bush ahead in Ohio 48-44.
