In its Washington Wire feature, The Wall Street Journal reports on Howard Dean's tarnished image:
DEAN BATTLES a tarnished image in bid for Democratic chairmanship. Just 27% of party backers view the Vermont ex-governor positively, down from 48% a year ago. But he's less of a lightning rod for Republicans than during his presidential bid; 37% view him negatively, down from 58% in January 2004
Tarnished or not the New York Post front-runner in the race to be the Democratic National Committee's new chairman. According to the Post, some centrists are frantically seeking a new entry to stop Dean.
Sounds like Iowa 2004 all over again.
A lot of Republicans would like Dean to be DNC Chairman, but not because they think Dean will be able to restore the Democrats to their former majority status.

How great would that be! If the Dems put Dean at the helm we could just crush them on their pro-gay agenda.
