More than a week after California Yankee began following the story, the New York Times finally reports on Angola's outbreak of the Marburg hemorrhagic fever.
According to Medical News Today, over 100 cases have been identified in the Angolan outbreak. 95 of those cases have been fatal.
There is no vaccine or curative treatment for the Marburg virus

I thought marburg had a case fatality ratio of about 25-50%....
seems like the Angola outbreak is a crazy lethal strain...

I agree, I expected that the media would be a bit more informative. This is a lethal virus that isnt a respector of persons...I won't be surprised if it jumps the border, from then, who knows what will happen.? God be with the medical workers.

I seem to remember Marburg being one of the viruses killing people in the early part of the 1993 movie, "and the Band Played On," if I am not mistaken. Even if I am, this cousin of Ebola is not something to be trifled with.
I'm somewhat surprised it has not garnered more attention.
