More than 360 private companies, university departments and government organizations in eight countries, are identified as having procured goods or technology for use in weapons programs by Britain's MI5. As large as the list is, the Guardian reports the MI5 document says the list is not exhaustive.
According to the Guardian, the document warns against exports to organizations in , Pakistan, India, Israel, Syria and Egypt.
The determination of countries across the Middle East and Asia to develop nuclear arsenals and other weapons of mass destruction is depressing as hell. As President Bush reminds us, the Islamic radicals, Jihadies or Islamo-fascists, call them what you will, want to develop weapons of mass destruction, destroy Israel, intimidate Europe, and assault the American people.
This year's peace prize Nobel peace prize was awarded to Mohamed ElBaradei and his IAEA, the UN watchdog responsible for combating proliferation. Are we expected to assume the list of those working to obtain WMDs would be even larger but for ElBaradei's efforts?
Robert Oppenheimer got it about right:
