A new Cook Political Report/RT Strategies Poll finds 70 percent of those surveyed believe that criticism of the war by Democratic senators hurts troop morale and 44 percent think morale is hurt "a lot," Even self-identified Democrats agree with 55 percent believing the criticism hurts morale.
According to the Washington Post, a majority believes the Democrats' criticism is motivated by partisan politics with only 30 percent accepting that the Democrats' criticize the war effort because they believe this will help U.S. efforts in Iraq.
The poll also found 49 percent believe that troops should come home only when the Iraqi government can provide for its own security, and only 16 percent support immediate withdrawal.
The poll is a warning to the Democrats, stop taking political pot shots at the war strategy. If there is constructive suggestions on how to improve the war effort great, let's hear it, but just ranting that the President has done a poor job and we should quit doesn't help. Such politically motivated is dangerous, it can only encourage the enemy and discourage our forces while they are in harms way. Thank goodness the American public sees this. Too bad the Democrats don't.
