The Oregonian reported former Secretary of State Colin Powell said the United States needs to "stay the course" in Iraq:
"I hope it isn't an extended deployment. I hope the terrorism and insurgency stops," Powell said. "But the terrorism and insurgency won't stop if we walk away. . . I think it is important for us to stay the course."
Powell was addressing students and faculty at Willamette University.
