Greenwich millionaire businessman, Ned Lamont, has taken more steps toward his inevitable challenge of Senator Lieberman. Lamont created a candidate committee, named Tom Swan as manager of the "exploratory campaign," and began searching for a headquarters.
Swan is a liberal activist, longtime critic of Lieberman and executive director of the Connecticut Citizen Action Group. According to the Hartford Courant, the political director of the Connecticut Citizen Action Group, John Murphy, also will be joining the Lamont campaign.
The Greenwich Time reports that Greenwich’s former First Selectman John Margenot, who served with Lamont Greenwich Board of Selectmen from 1987 to 1989, is surprised that Lamont would mount this campaign and doesn’t expect Lamont to do well:
"I'm real surprised because Ned had pretty much withdrawn from the political arena as far as I could see," former First Selectman John Margenot, who served with Lamont, said the prospect of a race featuring his former colleague.

"The chances of winning would be less than robust," the Republican Margenot said.
Lamont is already changing positions. His website states the campaign will start as soon as 1,000 volunteers sign up. According to the Associated Press, Lamont's new "exploratory campaign" manager now says that for Lamont to officially get in, they need to recruit volunteers from every town.
