Last night the Democratic National Convention was all about Hillary. It should have been about the Obama, the Democrats' presumptuous nominee.
Hillary gave a good speech, but it needed to be a great speech. It was a concession speech, perhaps the speech Hillary should have given in June.
Hillary's speech should have been the equivalent of a nomination speech. I didn't hear that. What I heard was a heartfelt thank you to Hilliary's "sisterhood of the traveling pantsuits." There was no Obama-like oratorical knock them dead explanation of why Obama has to be president.
More important, Hillary didn't offer a rebuttal to defuse her devastating critique of Obama's lack of experience:
“I have a lifetime of experience I will bring to the White House. I know Senator McCain has a lifetime of experience he will bring to the White House. And Senator Obama has a speech he made in 2002.”She didn't even include the “I’m Hillary Clinton - and I do NOT approve that message!” line Hillary used at her breakfast appearance with the New York Democratic Delegation. A feeble attempt to criticize McCain's use of footage of Hillary attacking Obama's lack of experience in ads such as this one:
Maybe there is no way to defuse the criticism that the Obama is not ready to be commander and chief. After all, Hillary isn't the only one that said Obama is not ready. Joe Biden, the Senator Obama chose to be his running mate, said Obama wasn't ready. Even Obama said he wasn't ready:
