McCain giving up on Colorado

UPDATE: Liz Mair, RNC spokeswoman, further clarifies:

RNC efforts are ongoing in these states, and Barack Obama would assume otherwise at his own peril.

Mark Halperin reports the McCain Camp is giving up on Colorado.

According to CNN's John King, the campaign now believes Colorado, New Mexico and Iowa are no longer winnable. In order to win, the McCain campaign has a new "risky strategy." McCain must now win Florida, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia, and come from behind and win Pennsylvania.

You can watch King's video report here.

The McCain camp's response: "We see the race tightening both internally and in public polling. We are within striking distance in the key battleground states we need to win."
