I'm sure by now you have heard that Obama, like McCain did in order to get congress to work on the big Wall Street bailout, will suspend his presidential campaign so he can visit his gravely ill grandmother in Hawaii.
First let me say our thoughts and prayers are with Obama, his family and the senator's grandmother.
On MSNBC this morning, Obama spokesperson Bill Burton said:
You know, times like this show you there are things bigger than campaigns. So senator Obama is going to Hawaii to be with his grandmother in what is obviously a serious time concerning leaving the campaign trail to do it.
If Obama is going to suspend his campaign, like McCain did, will Obama take his negative ads off the air while Obama is in Hawaii with his grandmother?
After all, Obama is running more negative ads than McCain.
I tried to ask Bill Burton that question. I tried to find a phone number or e-mail address for Burton. I checked the Obama campaign site. I clicked the "contact us" button. I called the phone number listed there in case you can't find your answer at the site.
After a few minutes was disconnected.
I tried again and reached a "volunteer." I told who I was and that I have a couple of questions for Bill Burton that I would like to e-mail to him, but can't find an e-mail address for him.
The volunteer transferred me to the media desk, where another person listed to my spiel, asked what I wanted to ask Burton, asked for my phone number, my e-mail and refused to give me an e-mail address for Burton. That was over three hours ago and I have still not received a response from the Obama campaign.
The Obama Camp remains mum on running negative attack ads while Obama suspends campaign to visit his ailing grandmother. Too bad the Obama campaign is unwilling to follow McCain's example and rise above partisan politics for something that is "bigger than campaigns."
