Venomous Kate brings our attention to this CNN article. Kate posts that “the ties between al-Qaeda and Iraq are getting a little more certain.”
According to the CNN article:
U.S. forces operating in the so-called Sunni Triangle -- the region of Iraq most loyal to captured former dictator Saddam Hussein -- found a significant weapons cache that included al Qaeda literature and videotapes, the U.S. military said Tuesday. It is very unlike the mainstream press to publish something that might suggest a link between Iraq and al-Qaeda. The press usually jumps on every opportunity to debunk any suggestion that there was collaboration between the two.
I’m still not convinced that the 9-11 ringleader Atta could not have trained in Iraq. As I posted here, after two years the FBI is still unable to account for all of Atta’s whereabouts in July 2001. The time unnacounted for is sufficient for Atta to have traveled to Iraq and back.
As more documents are uncovered in Iraq, there will be more dots to connect.
UPDATE: Michele, at The Command Post and Claire, at e-Claire, are also following the CNN article.
B. Preston, at JunkYardBlog finds this discovery suprising.
