On Thursday I posted this about the 2-month-old baby girl with two heads.
CNN reports that Doctors have successfully removed the second head.
Baby Rebeca had been born with the head of what would have been her twin, attached to her own skull.
The so-called "parasitic head," had a partially formed brain and facial features. Rebeca is expected to recover in a couple of weeks and develop as a normal girl.
UPDATE: The Associated Press via MSNBC reports that Baby Rebeca died twelve hours after the second head was removed in a lengthy surgery.
Actually, they noticed something. Although no one believed the baby would have a second head (remember, Rebecca was only the eighth documented case in recorded history, and the sole survivor of birth with this condition), doctors told the parents the baby would likely be born with some sort of tumor on her head.

That's too bad for the little girl.
The scariest thing is that doctors had no idea about the second head during the pregnancy. I guess it doesn't always show up on an ultrasound.
