The Boston Herald reports that just minutes after urging delegates to the Democratic convention to restore a more civil tone to politics, Teresa Heinz Kerry told a Pittsburgh newspaperman to "shove it:"
That will certainly improve the political discourse. It reminds me of John Kerry's comment to union workers:"We need to turn back some of the creeping, un-Pennsylvanian and sometimes un-American traits that are coming into some of our politics," she told delegates.
Colin McNickle, the editorial page editor of the conservative Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, later questioned her repeatedly on what she meant by the term "un-American."
After repeated denials, Heinz Kerry told McNickle, "You said something I didn't say. Now shove it."
Kerry had no regrets about his characterizations of the opposition and never apologized for the harsh words. These guys are the most crooked, you know, lying group of people I've ever seen.
Mrs. Kerry could take a real step towards restoring "a more civil tone to politics" if, unlike her husband, she would offer an apology for her "shove it" outburst. I hope she takes advantage of the opportunity she created.
UPDATE: A video of the exchange is available here and is worth watching. Thanks to Paul at Wizbang.
You little people are such fools. That is why you refuse to bow when I speak. You will get yours, you idiots. John & I know what is best for you peasants even though you do not. We long so for the good days, the European days of elegance when royalty was respected. Ants!!! Insects!!! Middle class riff-raff. You make fun of us because we do not pay taxes on my $3.2 billion in assets. You make fun of us because we pay the bare minimum of 0.983% in taxes on my $80M/yr income while I support a 30% tax on any family earning over $100,000. You ignorant scum. I suport the outsourcing of all the Heinz manufacturing plants and their thousands of jobs so that my income will grow even more while my husband tells you about all the bad outsourcing plotted by evil US corporations. Worship me and my waned beauty or I'll get you my pretty, and your little dog too!
