The Associated Press reports that Democrats are pressuring McGreevey to leave office before November 15:
This is a big reversal for the Democrats. On Friday, New Jersey Republican leaders called on McGreevey to leave office immediately, saying that news of his affair is likely to be first of many damaging disclosures:A senior administration official and a Democratic consultant, both speaking on condition of anonymity, said several top Democrats are worried an FBI investigation into the governor's same-sex relationship with a former aide will expose more politically damaging details.
"There's a deepening concern that it will get uglier and more damaging to the party. It's pressure for sooner rather than later," the consultant said.

Several prominent Democrats are pressing McGreevey to leave before Nov. 15, but not necessarily before the September deadline, the consultant said.
Friday Democrats said GOP leaders were unfairly trying to capitalize on what was McGreevey's personal decision."It is my suspicion that there will be more awkward stories in the days and weeks to come — stories that will make it very difficult for him to carry out the duties of his office," said state Republican Chairman Joe Kyrillos.
Everyone seems to think there is much more to McGreevey's resignation than we now know. Regardless of what sordid details are still to come, McGreevey can no longer govern effectively. He should vacate the his office immeadiately.
