According to New London's The Day, Connecticut's newly re-elected Senator Dodd is said to be considering running for governor in 2006.
Dodd was elected to a historic fifth term Tuesday, becoming the first Connecticut senator to be popularly elected to a fifth term. Dodd crushed his opponent winning 66 percent of the vote.
On Wednesday Dodd declined to seek the Senate minority leader's post, even though he lost that job to Daschle in 1994 by a 24-23 vote.
Dodd's gubernatorial flirtation is just one sign of despair among Democratic senators after the Republicans expanded their majority in the Senate by four seats. Senator Corzine of New Jersey and Senator Schumer of New York are also dispirited over Democrat's continued minority status and are said to be considering running for governor.
And they're not girlie men? Seriously, this is awful. The Democrats are going to take the stance that if you don't win you take your toys and go home? Arnold was right. They not only girlie men, they're losers.
On the bright side for the Democratic Party, an exodous of senior Senators and House members is just about the best thing that could happen. They'd be rid of the individuals who have run the party into the ground and maybe, just maybe, they'd be able to find some new blood that could take the Party in a new, more reasonble direction.
Just the thoughts of a Conservative =).
