Many thanks to all those who have asked whether we are okay. We are okay, just frustrated, stressed out and consumed with trying to get back into our home.
I regret the lack of posting. Every spare moment over the last couple of weeks has been devoted to trying to make progress on getting our home repaired after The Fire. Unfortunately, the insurance company, or at least the insurance company's adjuster is being extremely unreasonable. So I am forced to spend every available moment fighting with the insurance company's adjuster, consulting with the cleaning company, the architect, my builder, my insurance agent, City building officials, and now a public adjuster I have hired to assist me with the impasse with the insurance company.
Time to suggest a good faith suit.

Thanks for letting us know....with all the talk of floods and mudslides in California I was worried you had new problems.
Insurance companies can be incredible to deal with. I had a friend who was a fire inspector and after he had a fire at his home, the insurance company tried to say he set it! This was NOT just a matter of not getting his home rebuilt....it could have COST HIM HIS JOB. It was sickening the things they did to him, his wife, two daughters, and mother-in-law (who lived in a separate apt downstairs).
Take a deep breath. Thank God you are all safe
and are able to fight this battle together.
