The Associated Press reports that Senator Wayne Allard, R-Colo said Wednesday the government should consider deputizing private citizens, like the Minuteman Patrol in Arizona, to help secure U.S. borders.
More than half of the 1.1 million illegal immigrants apprehended in the United States last year entered at the Arizona border. Recent intelligence suggested al-Qaida terrorists might enter at that point.
Homeland Security Secretary Chertoff sidestepped Allard's suggestion to deputize citizens to patrol the border:
"Depending on what community you're in, some law enforcement officials want to be involved in and engaged in the process of enforcing the laws against illegal immigration," Chertoff said. "Some don't. I don't think we can make them do it."
Maybe the feds should give Allard's suggestion a try. They coudn't do much worse than not apprehending 550,000 illegal aliens in a year.
I am interested in starting up a group that will be known as "Connecticut Yankee Minuteman".Our plans are to target illegals in Connecticut as well as their landlords and place of buisinesses and keep the pressure on government officials in an effort to stop this massive invasion of illegals. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Allard has a good idea. And you are right *it could not be any worse than it has been the last 15 years!*
