New York"s 1010 WINS radio reports that Connecticut's House of Representatives defeated a bill that would have offered children of illegal aliens in-state tuition rates at public colleges.
The vote was 77-65 against the proposal.
At the University of Connecticut, in-state tuition is $14,894 each year, compared to $26,726 for out-of-state residents.
The House of Representatives did the right thing. To provide the in-state tuition to illegal aliens would only further encourage illegal immigration. As a Connecticut taxpayer I don't see why I should be asked to subsidize the education of someone who is in this country illegally.
