I'm a bit late to this story.
NPR reports on a billboard in the Los Angeles metro area advertising KCRA Channel 62, a local Spanish-language television station. The ad substitutes "Los Angeles, CA" with "Los Angeles, CA Mexico." The ad has stirred up the debate about illegal aliens.
You can see lager picture of the billboard at Americans for Legal Immigration.
Yesterday the Los Angeles Times reported that last week California Governor Schwarzenegger, on KFI-AM's "John and Ken Show" called the billboard "extremely divisive," adding:
The big mistake is that it promotes illegal aliens to come in here. And it's the last thing that we need.
According to Americans for Legal Immigration, Los Angeles' address has been corrected on the billboard:
Some patriotic Americans have climbed this sign and draped Old Glory over the word Mexico providing America with another picture worth a thousand words. Thus Los Angeles’s correct address as part of the sovereign territory of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is now displayed for all to see. It appears that patriotic Americans are liberating Los Angeles today. At Dummocrats, Chris posts "What's ironic is that if Los Angeles were in Mexico not a damn person would be risking life and limb to get there." Michele Malkin posts "Viva la reconquista. Get used to it."
