Reuters reports that London will host the 2012 Olympics:
International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge announced the British capital as the winner in a globally televised ceremony after a day of presentations at the IOC session in Singapore's Raffles City complex.

The victory of London will inevitably be seen as a personal triumph for British Prime Minister Tony Blair who spent two days in Singapore wooing IOC members.
This will be the third time London has hosted the Olympics.
According to the Associated Press, there is lots of disappointment in New York:
A planned Rockefeller Center victory party instead turned into an outdoor wake. A giant Jumbotron, used earlier to beam in a feed of the vote, now carried a message of defeat: "Thank you New Yorkers for your support.''
I'm sure there will be months of recriminations over who lost New York's bid. Especially during the City's Mayoral campaign.
