Evangelist Pat Robertson calls for the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez:
"We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability," Robertson said during Monday broadcast of his religious "The 700 Club" program.
"We don't need another $200 billion war to get rid of one, you know, strong-arm dictator," he continued. "It's a whole lot easier to have some of the covert operatives do the job and then get it over with."
As a result, Robertson Is Pilloried. And well he should be!
He caused an international incident, requiring statements of denial from Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld as well as from the State Department. Worse, he gives Chavez the moral high ground, hopefully only temporarily.
Can you imagine the outcry here if a noted Venezuelan religious figure called for the assassination of President Bush? Robertson should be removed from the airways, regardless of contractual obligations.
So scott from ca,
You are, by extension, extreme yourself?

Chavez is an enemy, and while Robertson's rant was extreme, my my heart and soul, I agree with him.
