Reporter Judith Miller is scheduled to testify this morning before a federal grand jury investigating the "outing" of Valerie Plame.
Miller had been jailed for contempt of court since July 6 for refusing to testify about conversations with news sources. She was released yesterday, after she agreed to testify.
According to the Washington Post, Miller agreed to testify after I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, chief of staff for Vice President Cheney, assured her in a telephone call last week that a waiver he gave prosecutors authorizing them to question reporters about their conversations with him was not coerced.
While the main stream media is sure to declare Miller a hero for going to jail to protect her source, something doesn't sound right. An attorney for Libby, said yesterday that he told Miller's attorney a year ago that Libby's waiver was voluntary and that Miller was free to testify.
So why did Miller make herself out to be a martyr?
I hope this is an indication that Fitzgerald's investigation is about over. I thought it should have ended over a year ago.
