NASA has reconsidered the decision to move Space Shuttle Atlantis to Vehicle Assembly Building and will let the shuttle weather Tropical Storm Ernesto at the launch pad.
Weathering the storm at the pad instead of the safety of the Vehicle Assembly Building, will make it possible that Atlantis could be launched as early as next week.
The turnaround decision came as the projected path for Tropical Storm Ernesto was further west than first expected. Atlantis began the return trip to the pad still atop the crawler-transporter.
