Diana Urban, a Republican state representative from North Stonington, failed to get enough petition signatures to run as an independent on the November ballot for U.S. Senate.
By today's deadline, Urban's campaign only obtained 6,273 signatures, short of the 7,500 needed to secure a spot on the ballot.
She filed her petition application last month Urban hoping challenge Senator Lieberman as an "anti-war Republican:"
Her reasons for entering the race, she said, include opposition to the war in Iraq, a feeling that the country is ignoring its responsibilities on education and global warming, and that her record is more substantial than that of either of Lieberman's other challengers.
According to the Associated Press, Urban plans to vote for Lamont, because he's anti-war.
Perhaps Urban is looking for support from the netroots.
