A Canadian man was sentenced to 16 months in jail for promoting hatred on his website.
After his release, Mr. Sentana-Ries, formerly known as Reinhard Gustav Mueller, will face 36 months of probation during which he will not be allowed to use the Internet.He has also been ordered to take down his website.
Mr. Sentana-Ries was convicted last December because of his website, Federation of Free Planets, which denies the Holocaust and promotes hatred against Jewish people.
The hate monger is a nutjob. The Edmonton Journal reports the jew-hater read a statement in court detailing the " radio messages his wife receives from extraterrestrials." The prosecutor that there should be no room in Canada for such hate. In no way do I condone Sentana-Ries's views, but I am concerned about the obvious negative free speech implications raised by his prosecution. Canada and the internet are a little less free.
