The Telegraph reports thousands of foreign Taliban fighters detained by Pakistan after fleeing the battleground in Afghanistan have been quietly released and allowed to return to their home countries.
The article is not as ominous as the headline implies. According to the Telegraph, the released fighters the newspaper tracked down and interviewed all seem harmless.
Why aren't these captured fighters treated as prisoners of war and detained until the fighting is over? I go ballistic when I hear about released jihadis returning to the battlefield.
