The Kansas City Star's Buzz Blog asked bloggers to come up with a catchy name for the midterm thumpin', a la the “Republican Revolution” of 1994.

Bluenami prevailed over other suggestions, including Purple Rain, Democratic Demolition, Blue Bounce, Bushwhacked, and The Demo Fix of ’06.
