Erick, one of my RedState colleagues, posted this picture of some of our troops fighting the war in Iraq making an editorial comment on the billions of dollars of pork, including $74 million for peanut storage, the Democrats slipped into the emergency supplemental war funding legislation.
It has been 68 days since the President sent his request for the necessary funds to support our troops fighting the war. President Bush has made it as clear as possible that as soon as the Democratic controlled run Congress gets around to sending him the bill the Democrats carefully crafted to ensure a veto, he will veto it. Perhaps then, before all of the serious damage to readiness laid out by Secretary Gates actually occurs, the Congress can act responsibly and send the President a bill he can sign.
When will the Democrats observe a cease fire in their war against President Bush and pass legislation providing the necessary war funding to support the troops engaged in a real war that does not try to legislate defeat?
$74 MILLION for peanut storage? You must be kidding me. Please tell me that's a joke.
