Bowing to Romney's superior effort to win the Ames straw poll, both the Giuliani and McCain campaigns plan to skip the straw poll.
The move prompted the Romney campaign to claim victory, stating:
It looks as if we just beat those campaigns in Iowa two months earlier than we had planned on beating them.
Both the Giuliani and McCain campaigns claim they will still compete to win the Iowa caucuses, but no candidate in the straw poll's nearly 30 year history has bypassed the event and won the caucuses.
McCain is way to cocky. Have he and Guiliani really given up on Iowa and let Romney take it's reigns.
