Obama's Dirty Trick - Still Disrespecting Old Glory

It has been nearly three weeks since I posted "Obama Disrespects The Flag."

Obama blames grandpa for his ignorance of Patriotic Customs:

At a town hall meeting Wednesday an Iowa voter asked Senator Barack Obama, D-Ill., about the numerous emails she has received with photos purporting to show Obama "refusing" to pledge allegiance to the flag.

"You're standing with your arms folded and Hillary's got her hand on her heart," she said, adding that she received so many of these emails she is sick of them.

Obama shook his head and smiled.

"This was not during the pledge of allegiance," Obama said of the picture taken at Senator Tom Harkin's, D-Iowa, annual steak fry and first published by Time. "A woman was singing the Star Spangled Banner when that picture was taken."

"I was taught by my grandfather that you put your hand over your heart during the pledge, but during the Star Spangled Banner, you sing!" Obama said.

If Obama truly wants to be president should he not become familiar with the law?

United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10 - Patriotic Customs, Section 171 Conduct During Playing:

During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart.

Pledge or Star Spangled Banner, it makes no difference.

Obama called the circulation of this picture a "dirty trick" and advised supporters to ignore emails concerning the picture:

"Just tell whoever sent it," Obama told the crowd, "they're misinformed."

It is hard to believe that no one on Obama's staff is familiar with Patriotic Customs.

That is such a blatant outrageous lie. When Hussein was 2 years old his grandfather was a MUSLIM not even living in this country. Why would a MUSLIM (and one with a violent history at that) teach him the Pledge of Allegiance when he was raised to hate Christians. Jews and Americans in general???

The flag (and the anthem) are hardly meaningless symbols; nevertheless, I fail to see how his standing respectfully at attention (and not in the strict military sense) displays disrespect for the flag. By that definition, all the individuals pictured are breaking the law because they're looking AT THE SINGER instead of at the flag.

It pisses me off when people chat during the anthem, or refuse to remove their caps, etc. Standing quietly and respectfully, though? You gotta be kidding me.

There you go again. The word "SHOULD" is a request, a suggestion, or even a recommendation NOT an ORDER. I think California Yankee should have more important things to write about. Flags and songs are meaningless symbols.
