Truck Leaking Hydrogen Shuts I-84 In CT

Interstate 84 is closed and dozens of homes have been evacuated because an overturned tractor trailer is leaking hydrogen gas.

According to the Hartford Courant, the crash happened around 5:30 a.m. by Exit 17 on the westbound side, state police said.

Both sides of the highway will remain closed for an indefinite amount of time, said state police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance.

Homes on Shadduck Road in Middlebury are being evacuated by local police.

The tractor trailer may be leaking compressed hydrogen gas, prompting a "full Hazmat response," Vance said.
